Interview with Darlin

Interview with Darlin

Today, we sat down with DARLIN to talk about the inspiration to write music, music they listened to growing up and much more! We were able to learn more about the musicians behind the instruments and had fun as well.

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

Yeah absolutely, my surroundings or the surroundings of people close to me, most of DARLIN’s lyrics are about the complications of love and relationships that I’ve observed throughout my life.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

Like most of the members of DARLIN, I was mostly into hard rock and metal, we were mostly in alternative bands throughout our younger years, but as we’ve gotten older, our tastes have softened.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

Fleetwood Mac were always very close to my heart, seeing the amount of raw talent each individual had and observing the strained relationships that were created from their career just made it even more amazing when they came together and played their music.

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?

All of the members of DARLIN have full time vocations, I’m a manage a team of carers, Sarah works in recruitment, we’ve got an implementation manager, a retail manager, a ski instructor – We’ve all had to find ways to supplement our passion and allow us to put our spare time into what we love.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Do it for you, make music that makes you feel something. Whether that be a way to convey love or a way to let off steam. Music is personal and we each have our own relationship with it. It’s about determining that relationship and then harnessing it to see what comes out.
