Today, I sat down with Lunison to discuss their inspiration to write music, heroes, and much more. Be sure to check out the music of Lunison below on Spotify after the interview!
Interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
Surroundings?
I have songs stuck in my head all day; some of them are other people’s songs and some are new melodies that my brain conjures up. When the latter occurs, I try to get in front of a pad of paper with a guitar or piano to bring them to life. The constant noise in my brain is something that I would turn off if I could. It makes it difficult to sleep, but I do love the feeling of hashing a song out and hearing it back.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
I had an older brother that encouraged me to listen to everything I could. I loved Pantera, Wyclef Jean, Aphex Twin, The Spice Girls – you name it! But when I heard The Beatles (specifically John Lennon’s call and response “come on, come on” with George and Paul) “Please Please Me” , it was lights out. I went on a decades long rock and roll binge that still has yet to let up. I tore through the Pink Floyd, Doors, Rolling Stones, Bowie, Beatles discography. I also got heavy into the 80’s with Talking Heads, Cure, New Order, Smiths, INXS and Stone Roses.
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
Anyone who was fronting a band with both lead guitar and lead vocals. David Gilmour, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Elliott Smith, Robin Trower.
If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?
I’m not sure, honestly. I love reading, so maybe something to do with writing.
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
Music?
Create what you think the world needs and is lacking musically.
