LOS ANGELES, CA (April 7, 2026) — Today, The Mars Volta announced they will return to the stage this fall for a run of select North American dates. The tour follows a groundbreaking year for Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, who spent their previous trek performing their critically acclaimed ninth studio album, Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos Del Vacio, in its entirety.
The upcoming September run that begins on September 8th in Ventura, CA will see the band bringing their legendary, high-energy performance and career-spanning setlists to intimate theaters and massive arenas alike. A major highlight of the tour includes a special appearance in San Antonio, TX, where the band will join My Chemical Romance at the Alamodome, followed by a closing performance at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville on September 20th.
Their 2025 tour was hailed by critics and fans alike as a “spiritual experience,” featuring flawless, extended improvisations that transformed the studio recordings into a “director’s cut” live performance. This upcoming September run will see the band continuing that momentum, with a mixed set list from their 9 studio records.
Released in April, Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos Del Vacio marks a bold evolution for the band, distancing them from their post-hardcore roots in favor of a “psychedelic fever dream” reminiscent of Kid A. The 18-track double LP is a masterclass in genre-bending, seamlessly weaving art rock and neo-psychedelia with immersive synth soundscapes and swirling vocals. Deeply connected to the duo’s El Paso heritage, the record juxtaposes intricate Latin jazz and Caribbean rhythms against a tense, electro-industrial backdrop, creating a subdued atmosphere that intermittently explodes into the band’s signature “controlled chaos.”
