Tank Shooter Tyr Sets Summer 2026 Release Window After Years of Community-Focused Playtesting

San Francisco, USA – April 23rd, 2026 – Stoke Games is pleased to announce that their multiplayer tank shooter, Tyr, will release into Early Access this summer. Years of playtesting with a dedicated community has helped prepare Tyr for this moment. From the mountain of feedback considered–and the heaps of destroyed steel left behind–Tyr is almost ready to roll out. To celebrate the announcement of the Summer Early Access release, a new trailer debuted at today’s Second Wind Showcase, offering a feel of how Tyr punctuates tense moments of strategic positioning with earth-shaking tank fire.

A peek at a tank equipped with cloaking-tech, a launchable drone, and even a tank that can transform to take to the skies all offer a tease at some of the unique capabilities in Tyr. A tank left as a sitting duck after having its tracks targeted hints at some of the game’s tactical possibilities – the angle of armor impacts the ability to do damage, and you can target specific parts to make them temporarily inoperable. The Playtest is accepting requests now on Steam for players to try it themselves.

The free-to-play multiplayer shooter emphasizes strategy over twitch reflexes. With a roster of specialized armored vehicles that each bring unique capabilities to the battlefield, there are a variety of ways for you to approach combat and combine effectively with your teammates. Focus on the vital task of spotting enemies with a mobile light tank, snipe from distance with a deadly-but-vulnerable damage dealer, wade into close engagements with a heavy tank, and discover plenty more ways that Tyr‘s tanks can turn the tide in your team’s favor.

Upgrade and evolve each tank to suit your playstyle through a progression structure that respects Tyr‘s players and community; there will be no fancy new tanks reserved only for those  prepared to fork out huge wads of cash, no pay-to-win weapons, and no game-breaking consumables. Tyr is free-to-play done right.

To join the private playtest community and help make Tyr something special, head over to Steam to request access.

“We’re excited to announce that Tyr is coming this Summer,” said Veigar Bouius, Co-Founder & Product Director at Stoke Games. “We welcome anyone who wants to join our amazing community of meme slingers and competitive players who are helping to shape this game at every step.”
