With cheeky, contemporary titles like “Snowflake State of Mind” and “Ho Ho Holdin’ You,” she takes the nostalgia of Christmas and infuses it with fresh, youthful energy.
A standout on the album, “When We’re Decembering,” opens with a warm, inviting guitar riff that sets the Christmas mood instantly. Dawn sings, “The season starts when you walk in / I feel just like a kid again / bells do a little more jingling / stars do a little more twinkling / I do a little more singing / when we’re Decembering.”
Her voice shines on “You and Christmas,” capturing the joy of sharing the season with someone special: “Your love’s the only gift I need / my happy heart just wants to be / wrapped up in you and Christmas / you make me jingle all the way / I wish that I could always stay / wrapped up in you and Christmas.”
