NEW YORK, NY – Tonight, Wednesday, January 14, Peacock, in partnership with Vanity Fair, hosted a star-studded premiere screening for the original new drama series, PONIES, at The Whitby Hotel.
The premiere kicked off with a screening of the first episode “Second Hand News,” with opening remarks from creators David Iserson and Susanna Fogel. Immediately following the screening, Emilia Clarke, Haley Lu Richardson, David Iserson, and Susanna Fogel participated in a conversation moderated by Vanity Fair’s Senior Hollywood Editor, Hillary Busis. The celebration continued with an intimate cocktail reception.
Attendees included Emilia Clarke, Haley Lu Richardson, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi, and Vic Michaelis. Also in attendance were PONIES executive producers David Iserson, Susanna Fogel, Jessica Rhoades, Alison Mo Massey, and Katherine Bridle. ABOUT THE SERIES
Moscow, 1977. Two “PONIES” (“persons of no interest” in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives. Bea (Emilia Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila (Haley Lu Richardson), is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.
