PAX EAST: BOSTON & TORONTO – WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2025 – Film and game production studio, Lofty Sky Entertainment, is set to captivate audiences with a triple-threat showcase at PAX East, featuring an updated demo of innovative “anti-RPG” RPG Sky of Tides, a new trailer drop of a groundbreaking animated series Sky of Tides: ATLA, and the first hands-on with a stunning VR experience that celebrates global cultures with Verse VR. Meet the Lofty Sky team at booth #16105 to experience the latest from these developers.
Dubbed the “Anti-RPG” RPG, the narrative game SciFi Sky of Tides has drawn comparisons to Disco Elysium for its genre-defying mechanics. Rather than encouraging players to max out a single skill or trait, Sky of Tides rewards emotional balance and personal growth across five unique stat lines.
“In a broken, divided world, taking one trait to the extreme isn’t the solution,” says Lofty Sky creative director Judith Cheung. “With 32 unique endings, the game rewards choices that restore equilibrium.”
For a limited time, players who master this balance by exceeding threshold scores will be the first to unlock the related five-episode animated series Sky of Tides: ATLA—a special nod to loyal fans. A thrilling new trailer for the series will premiere just days before PAX West at the LA Webfest, where it is nominated for “Best Animation”.
Sky of Tides: ATLA expands upon the universe of the Sky of Tides game, telling the events from another character’s perspective. The series follows Atla Gildeon, a fresh protagonist navigating the divided world of numen9. The first episode will premiere in June at the New Media Film Festival in L.A., while PAX East attendees can watch the new trailer within an updated Sky of Tides demo at Lofty Sky’s booth.
Lofty Sky is also premiering Verse VR for Meta Quest and Steam VR at PAX East. This breathtaking multimedia virtual reality title transports users to eight culturally rich worlds – from a vibrant West African village to a serene Chinese garden – brought to life with poetry, music, and art. Featuring 28 spoken word experiences (39 in the Deluxe Edition), Verse VR showcases original works by global artists like West African griots Sadio Sissokho and Aïcha Sylla, alongside stunning environments and animated line drawings. Developed with cultural partners like Batuki Music Society, the project is a testament to authenticity and immersion.
Slated for a summer release, the Verse VR demo will be playable for the first time at Lofty Sky’s PAX East booth, and the game can be wishlisted on the Meta Quest.and Steam stores.
Additionally, Lofty Sky in collaboration with Dare Drop, is launching a creator-first campaign immediately after PAX East that champions authenticity, community, and story, inviting players to not only play Sky of Tides, but to “feel” it. Involving a curated group of content creators across TikTok now and additional platforms at launch, the studio aims to share the richness of the Sky of Tides universe with players everywhere – through gameplay, thoughtful content, and engaging storytelling moments.
“We were drawn to Sky of Tides because it offers something rare: an emotional, choice-driven experience that speaks to the power of storytelling in games,” said Joe Bechtold, CEO at Dare Drop. “We’re excited to help bring that vision to life through creators who are as passionate about narrative games as the team at Lofty Sky.”
Finally, Lofty Sky is also teasing an unannounced mystery game currently in production that blends its expertise in “impact” documentaries and narrative game design. Alpha testers can join the closed testing phase via the studio’s Discord server. Find out more at Lofty Sky’s PAX East booth.
