Interview with Kazaran

Today, I was able to sit down with the band Kazaran to discuss inspiration to write music, heroes, and much more. Be sure to check out the music of Kazaran on Spotify below after the interview!

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
Surroundings?

More so whatever is happening in life at the time. It’s also very dependant of what the song sounds like and if the overall themes will relate and flow well with it. It’s an intriguing process

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

I had lots of Aussie rock influence such as INXS, Cold Chisel and Midnight Oil courtesy of my dad. But then also 2000s gym anthems courtesy of my mother who was a gym instructor, so I’d hear the likes of Backstreet Boys and 5ive. My older sister would blast Britney Spears and Delta Goodrem from the room next to mine, so I had many different genres radiating around me at all times. I really enjoyed Queen and Weird Al, and as I got older and my brother and I found more interesting things, he found wrestling, which I latched onto, which then opened the door to hard rock and metal.

Is there someone you looked up to as a hero?

Not necessarily, I just had lots of movie and TV influences, I loved James Bond, and once wrestling came into the frame I had a different favourite wrestler every week. People that did stand out though were Chris Jericho, as he was a pro wrestler and in a band which was what I wanted to do and be. The equivalent of him in Adelaide in my mind was Robby Heart who also was a pro wrestler and in a band. So I more so looked at these people and knew that I was possible for me to attain.

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?

I’m also a professional wrestler and background actor under the alias CHA5M, so I have other things I’m able to do if I wasn’t doing music

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Music and the way it is produced and put out has changed so much since I started doing it, literally within the span of 10 years or so. If it’s something that you can relate to, you feel you’re best at and what to do, totally go for it. The world can’t have the same musicians forever, it always needs more.
