Interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?
When it comes to writing music, our inspiration pulls from a lot of places, not just the world around us, but
also what’s happening internally.
Real life definitely bleeds into what we create: the struggles, the triumphs, the quiet moments, the chaos.
Rather than looking outward at specific scenes or trends, we take all of that experience and emotion and pour
it into the sound.
Musically, we’re influenced by a wide range of genres — everything from metalcore and post-hardcore to
progressive metal, death metal, and even pop-punk. If we had to name a comparable influence, Invent
Animate’s Greyview era definitely hits close to our core sound and vibe.
In short: our surroundings, both physical and emotional, absolutely shape what we do — but we try to turn
that into something uniquely ours.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
All of us share a common love for heavy music — it’s no surprise we ended up in a metalcore band together.
But when you dig a little deeper, our individual tastes branch out in a lot of different directions.
James has a deep love for pop punk — honestly, if you asked me (Jordan), I’d say it’s probably his favorite
genre.
Andrew is just as likely to be writing a crushing riff as he is to be listening to a 1950s jazz group or vibing to
Tyler, The Creator. Did we mention he plays a mean trombone?
Brandon keeps things heavy at all hours — I once took a road trip with him, and at 6AM he was blasting
Betraying the Martyrs. He literally starts his mornings with Slayer.
Then there’s me (Jordan), who leans into the softer side with artists like NeverShoutNever and Panic! At The
Disco.
Our diverse tastes really feed into the music we create — a little chaos, a little beauty, and a lot of energy.
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
Honestly, our band just really has a thing for Adam Sandler. No deeper meaning — we just respect the guy.
If you weren’t a musician, *what would you be doing today?
We’d all probably be doing what we do every day outside of the band. James works in the gaming industry.
Brandon’s in the art and tattoo scene. Andrew works in tech, or he’d likely focus more on his skate wax
business. As for me (Jordan), I do behind-the-scenes music work — too many weird things to list.
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?
Take risks. Invest in your sound. Don’t be afraid to venture beyond your local community and reach new
audiences. Use social media to your advantage, and most definitely think about your marketing plan — it’s
crucial for getting your music out there. Also, don’t release music without a purpose. Sit down, think about
it, and film a few videos for singles. You can reach people if you think it through properly.
