Featuring never-before-seen footage from the WWE archives, WrestleMania IX: Becoming a Spectacle follows the making of the Las Vegas WrestleMania in 1993 which paved the path forward for WWE. From the chaos outside Caesars Palace to the action inside the ring, the documentary pulls back the curtain on the “World’s Largest Toga Party” with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the event.
I was able to watch Wrestlemania IX: Becoming a Spectacle on my Peacock subscription. I was looking for shows to watch and saw this on my timeline. I do enjoy watching wrestling, so I decided to check this out. Once I saw the first 5 minutes, I was hooked hard. I grew up watching Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and more during that era. In this documentary, Vince McMahon decided to film a behind the scenes movie about Wrestlemania. He wanted the world to see what it took to build the grandest stage of them all. What we see here is a lot of behind the scenes interactions with wrestlers, staff members, and more. We also see the situation where Hulk Hogan moved into Bret’s spotlight and take the title in that moment. Any wrestling fan should watch this as it shows a lot of history here as well as the time and effort it takes for a Wrestlemania to be built and showcased.
Our Thoughts
Pro:
- Behind The Scenes Wrestlemania
- I enjoyed watching the behind of scenes footage of wrestlers that I grew up watching. I didn’t think I would see a young Undertaker again or Yokozuna and many more. You see the wrestlers in that era get ready to showcase their talents at Wrestlemania in Caesar’s Palace!
- Time Capsule
- This is literally a time capsule with footage and scenes of people’s lives. Even the person narrating and showing the footage was part of that documentary. He was just a worker that moved into the archives section eventually later on in life for WWE.
