The Skin Stapler demo is turning heads X PSX grindhouse horror goes neon noir in Carrion City

February 24, 2026. Wiesbaden, Germany – Assemble Entertainment and Tainted Pact Games are officially announcing The Skin Stapler, a neon-lit PSX-style grindhouse horror adventure coming to PC via Steam in 2026. The demo is trending in the horror category on itch.io and has landed a 96% score on Steam. On top of that, MoistCr1TiKaL and CaseOh checked out the demo in a full YouTube playthrough and helped shine an even bigger spotlight on the game.

Welcome to Carrion City – an 80s fever dream where neon lights bounce off wet asphalt and everyone looks guilty even when they are not. The case starts ugly and gets worse fast.

You play primarily as Detective Dick Slater, a burned-out veteran trying to keep his grip while chasing a killer who leaves behind grotesque displays and distorted audio tapes that taunt the police and hint at something deeper under the city’s rot. You will also step into the shoes of other characters as the story spirals outward and the danger closes in.

Uncover the truth buried beneath Carrion City.

There’s a playable demo available now on Steam

Key Features

  • Short focused horror experience: Built to be finished in one sitting with atmosphere and tension doing the heavy lifting
  • Multiple playable perspectives: Play as the detective and as other characters as the city closes in around them
  • Grindhouse slasher vibes: PSX-style visuals, neon decay and a nasty little sense of humor
  • Story first, dread always: Creeping tension, unsettling imagery and audio tapes that you will not want to listen to alone
