Smoke and Sacrifice Game Review

Smoke and Sacrifice

By Juan M Carrillo

Smoke and Sacrifice is an Open World narrative RPG Adventure game that is visually stunning in both art and style. Thanks to the London base studio Solar Sail Games we are taken to this stunning adventure that from the beginning pulls on your heart strings right from the start. The setting of the game takes place in a small village that seems to be inspired by Tibet or Nepal culture, which is not seen in many games, this alone already makes it very interesting. As the game starts you are introduced to Sachi the main protagonist, and this is where those heart strings immediately get pulled. As the story starts you are forced to give up your son as it is traditional to give up your first born. However, like most games its not all that it seems and soon you are embark on a journey to find out the truth.

Smoke and Sacrifice is a visually pleasing game with the characters and settings, the use of 2D characters and creatures are simplistic, however this is where the game kind of falls off. With limited movement and action, the player must maneuver around in almost awkward way in other to move around the map and the same can be said about the combat system. The other mechanics for the most part is straight forward collecting and crafting items to help you along the way, and the use of the environment is very interesting with a day and night cycle that you must keep an eye out for.

Over all Smoke and Sacrifice is a modest good RPG game, its unique game play and Visuals give it a different perspective. Though the game may be visually pleasing it is hard to get invested in the characters. With limited movement I find myself crating items and exploring the map more often that none. However, if you are a fan of Narrative-RPG’s then Smoke and Sacrifice deserves a playthrough. Fans that enjoy these types of game will enjoy all what Smoke and Sacrifice has to offer.
