I was able to see that Sinners debuted yesterday on HBO MAX. I would hear a lot of good things about the movie, so I’m like sweet I’m gonna check this out. The movie is nearly 2 and a half hours, so I took the plunge and checked it out. I enjoy how the movie starts off in 1930’s Mississippi where you watch the history of the area. The African Americans are share croppers with land owners and working to make ends meet. The music created by the actors in the music is fantastic! They showcase blues music and how it attracts good and bad aurora. This is one of the premise of the movie’s background story or main story as how you would say.

This would incorporate where I would talk about the stuff I didn’t enjoy from the movie. The story was very long as the first hour was just about the Twins, Preacherboy, and how area. I want to say I enjoyed that part but this is a horror movie, so in horror movies, story is told through the horror. They were talking about their stories first and putting that image as their horror. Then you meet a young man who was chased by Indians, again love that historic showcase, who they are hunting him. Once he is brought in by a family, he is safe and then bites them. Then they find the Twin’s new Juke Box and start their devastation by converting nearly everyone into vampires. Oh I love that but….they didn’t show the attacks. They didn’t show the terror parts of the movie which ahem is a horror movie! They showed mixed efforts of horror here and there in small doses.

This is a good movie, well defined movie. This is a basic horror movie, really basic but its good. Well written, character defined, small doses of horror.

Pro:

  • Past Setting
    • Love the historical setting of the movie.
  • Music
    • Music was huge that attracts the good and bad of situations.

Con:

  • Story Too Long
    • Story is way too long and should have incorporated the horror aspects instead of waiting an hour to show it.
  • Basic Horror
    • Extremely basic horror, could have been epic but it was horror in small doses.

Rating: 7 out of 10
