Tokyo, Japan – Rising pop-punk singer Sarina has dropped her latest single, “Toast to the Broken,” a long overdue and deserved moment of recognition for society’s outliers. Produced by Kevin Thrasher (Panic! At The Disco, Blink-182, Avril Lavigne), the alternative song speaks to those searching for a distraction from painful feelings. “Toast to the Broken” is now available to stream and download worldwide. A music video for the song will be released on April 23rd on Sarina’s YouTube channel.
Sarina has made a name for herself with her relatable lyrics and emotional storytelling that touch on themes of mental health and personal challenges, coupled with pounding drums, heavy guitars, and melodious rock beats. “Toast to the Broken” is no exception. “‘Toast to the Broken’ is a rebel anthem for the lost and the wayward,” explains Sarina. “Fueled with rage and youthful recklessness, the song is all about running from whatever thoughts or feelings you don’t want to deal with, regardless of how unhealthy the coping mechanism is.” Similar to the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, and Paramore, Sarina has put her own twist on the early 2010s pop-punk genre, which can be heard especially throughout this new track through her raw and powerful vocals and catchy chorus. To accomplish this sound, Sarina teamed with producer Kevin Thrasher, the former guitarist of Escape the Fate, known for his production work with MGK, Panic! At The Disco, Blink-182, and Avril Lavigne.
Sarina fell upon her passion for music from a young age, immediately engrossed by the imaginative freedom it gave her. Born in Hawaii to two artistically gifted parents, a Lebanese mother and a Japanese father, Sarina grew up in a household filled with creativity and was heavily influenced musically by a multitude of cultures. As a result, she quickly picked up several instruments, including the guitar, piano, ukulele, drums, and bass. After signing a deal with Sony’s RED label, she released her debut single “Identity,” along with five more singles, six music videos, all of which were self-ideated and story-boarded, and a debut EP titled Foreword. It was not long before Sarina decided to utilize her talent to co-found a new label, SyrenSong, in May of 2024. The rising star has built a name for herself, gaining spots on notable playlists such as Ones To Watch’s Now Watching and Apple Music’s New in Rock, and securing features in New Noise Magazine, Music Connection Magazine, Tokyo Noise, Lock Magazine, and more.
