Boston, MA – Indie singer-songwriter ryan john clary continues to make leaps and bounds with the release of his new EP, 34. Featuring five tracks from his forthcoming full-length album Sunflower Lemonaide, the EP offers a preview of the powerful time in his life at age 34, filled with honesty and emotion. ryan john clary opens up about his growth, mental health challenges, and his mission to help others in recovery. 34 is now available to stream and download on platforms worldwide.
Entirely written, produced, performed, engineered, and mixed by clary, 34 showcases his all-around artistry and uncompromising creative vision. The EP was mastered by Cesar D. Lima, with contributions from Gabriel Young (additional writing and keys on “The Spins” and “Dresses Like Elvis”) and Carter Sanders (bass on “Dresses Like Elvis” and “A World Without You”). Across its five tracks, clary moves through darkness and light with disarming honesty. On “(there’s too many songs called) One More Time” and “The Spins,” he confronts the grip of addiction, the former disguising temptation in bright, upbeat tones, while the latter leans into a darker, more numbed atmosphere. “Silly Billy” captures the artist’s self-doubt and frustration after a decade in the music industry, pairing heavy drums and restrained vocals with the haunting confession of a dream slipping away. The final tracks, “Dresses Like Elvis” and “A World Without You,” turn toward hope, celebrating the love and stability he’s found with his wife through warm guitars and tender melodies. “34 has been an extremely impactful year so far,” says clary. “I got married and am preparing to start a family. These songs and the upcoming album are essentially a snapshot of this period of my life.”
ryan john clary is a Belmont, MA-born indie-rock artist known for his soft, earnest songwriting and vocals reminiscent of Elliott Smith. A lifelong multi-instrumentalist who began drumming at four and later picked up the guitar, clary blends the introspection of alternative rock with the rhythmic edge of hip-hop, drawing early inspiration from Eminem, Dr. Dre, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Guns N’ Roses. After overcoming addiction and agoraphobia, he reignited his passion through music, first performing with friends, then stepping into his own as a solo artist. His raw, vulnerable storytelling has earned recognition from outlets such as EARMILK and Clash Magazine, as well as opening slots for Owel, Carissa Johnson, and The Family Crest. With albums like LIFE, LOVE & YOU (2024) and bandit (2025), clary continues to turn pain into purpose, and his forthcoming project Sunflower Lemonaide deepens that journey, offering an unfiltered look at recovery, love, and the strength to begin again.
34 invites listeners to take a step back and reflect on their life story.
