Ruins of Symbaroum The Throne of Thorns 1 RPG Review

Perilous expeditions into the dark depths of Davokar Forest; deadly encounters with murderous cultists, hostile elves, and warriors of the Beast Clan; intense faction play and political maneuvering – you will experience all this and more when the epic quest for the legendary Throne of Thorns begins! This hardcover, full-color book presents the first two episodes of the acclaimed adventure chronicle The Throne of Thorns, adapted for play with the 5e ruleset and the Ruins of Symbaroum setting books. Expect the stakes to be high, the competitors relentless, and the darkness ever present, for the forest of Davokar is about to awaken.

I was able to get a review copy of Ruins of Symbaroum: The Throne of Thorns 1 to check out. I was able to do a first look video below of what you expect when you get a copy of your own. Now, my friends and I were able to sit down together and start our game. Reminder, you do needs access to the Ruins of Symbaroum Core Setting Books – the Player’s Guide, Gamemaster’s Guide and Bestiary. First thing we noticed is how much in depth went into for the factions. I was reading for a bit on the factions and noticed they had a major feel in the story. I also enjoyed how well the book felt in my hands too. The colors were well done in the art and the words spoke very loud in its own way.

I’m not going to spoil much but I will say this has 2 main stories. One is Wrath of the Warden which is like an introduction to the Ruins of Symbaroum but provides so much details especially with the factions. Then its The Witch Hammer that which involves a lot of action that will you wanting to slow down for a bit. This will go fast as the encounters will grow and you will need to double check on a few items as well. You will spend hours mostly on Wrath of The Warden as you slowly build and learn on who to trust and who not to trust. I enjoyed that big time! This is a fun and exciting game that you need to get soon!
