Rick and Morty Season 8 HBO Max Review

The 8th Season of Rick and Morty has been a huge disappointment. I have been a huge fan of Rick and Morty for many years as I used to watch them late night on Adult Swim when I used to have cable. Then, I would watch the episodes on DVDS and of course streaming. This season, just fell flat so hard! The jokes weren’t there, the stories weren’t there, and it felt so much toned down. The only thing that felt like it was part of Rick and Morty was Jerry. Yes! OMG! Jerry was the only thing that felt natural in the show!

I watched this season on HBO MAX and was hard to stomach the season. This took me a week to watch where normally I would binge in a day. This season, man oh man, didn’t feel like Rick and Morty!

Pro:

  • Jerry
    • Its quite embarassing that the only character in the show, Jerry, felt like a Jerry character and not a changed outline.

Con:

  • Not funny as before
    • The jokes fell flat hard in this season! I was shocked on how they would try and joke about this like they have in the past but just wouldn’t be remotely funny.
  • Less Creative
    • The stories for each episode just didn’t feel like how it should have been done for a Rick and Morty show. This brought an unease of boredom that I was on my phone majority of the season.
  • Toned Down
    • The jokes and situations felt like they were toned down a bit and others they wanted to magnify just felt flat.

Rating: 4 out of 10
