Review of Marvel Cosmic Invasion

Welcome Back, True Believers! We’re diving into Marvel Cosmic Invasion, the retro style brawler from Tribute Games, and Dotemu publishing. I’m here to give you some of the details to what makes this game absolutely fun, and amazing to play with absolutely no spoilers to some of the stuff that was put into this game.
To start off I have to say this game was such a blast to play! The mechanics are a blast, unlocking new characters, unlocking power ups and focus attacks keep the action fresh! The Game Play consists of a pick your path style of the stages you can play through. Using a tag team style of play similar to Marvel vs Capcom you can pick between any two characters, but the game will also give you the option of the best pairings for each level to work your way up to the final boss fight. She Hulk is strongly fierce and combining her normal and strong attacks makes playing so much fun! Hearing Spider-man’s quick wit, and smart comments during battles makes the game relaxing to play. Your mission is to stop Annihilus from taking over dimension 616 with help from various villains from within the Marvel Universe. Taskmaster is challenging with his reflexes, strength, and tactical senses, and Thanos is quite menacing. In the Savage Lands stage playing as She Hulk, she complimented how beautiful the pixels are. This breaking of the fourth wall is a nice touch and gives you a sense of how beautifully made this game really is. The extras in this game are wonderful as well. The tasks you need to complete to get information cubes plus the ones you need to find on each stage really make you pay attention to everything going on. The best easter eggs in this game are a couple of the health power ups. They are ice cream-shaped bars of Galactus, and M.O.D.O.K!
Now that I have gone over little bit of the game time for the review. It feels like stepping back into the golden age of arcade brawlers but with a modern polish. Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a love letter arcade brawlers, packed with iconic heroes, challenging bosses, and nostalgic touches that will thrill long time fans. With smooth controls, gorgeous retro visuals, and full cross platform play, it’s the most fun Marvel game in years. I give it a 9.5 out of 10 and can’t wait for what a hopeful DLC brings next!
