Review of Marvel Cosmic Invasion
Welcome, True Believers! (as Stan Lee would’ve said) to the review of the demo of Marvel Cosmic Invasion is the up-and-coming side scroller beat’em up games from the creators that brought you Streets of Rage 4, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. This is my review for the Steam version.
In Marvel Cosmic Invasion you are fighting an alien bug invasion that has come to conquer the world. In this demo the playable characters are Spider-Man, Wolverine, She Hulk, Storm, Venom, Nova, Phyla-Veil (also known as Captain Marvel), Rocket Raccoon, and Captain America. In one player mode you can choose between two characters to play as in a tag style fighting system. The combat system flows smoothly as you attack, shoot, dodge, special attack, and combo your way through the levels. You can also seamlessly tag between the two characters that you pick as often as you like. You play through two different levels in this demo but sorry no spoilers though. Just as they did with Streets of Rage 4, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Tribute Games, and Dotemu have done a fantastic job with the design of this game. They kept the same 8-bit style as they did with Shredder’s Revenge giving this game a great old school feel for us older generation of gamers while making it fun for the new generation of gamers as well. It gave me the feeling of standing in front of that big X-Men Six player arcade cabinet that we all played back when the good old arcades were still around. Ah I miss the sounds of the old arcades with my fellow gamers asking their parents for money for tokens, the old school music from the games around you, and the smell of the food from the nearby food court. Sorry enough reminiscing and getting back to the task at hand. I really enjoyed the demo of Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and I am very excited for this game to be coming out later this year! This game in my opinion will have no problem following in the successful footsteps of its predecessors and will sell a lot of copies both physically and digitally.
In conclusion the demo of Marvel Cosmic Invasion was awesome! The story line is great, the art style of the game is beautiful, and the combat system is fantastic! Marvel Cosmic Invasion will be releasing this year on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
