Rainbow Gate Steam Review

Today,  Absynthraven was able to sit down and check out Rainbow Gate on Steam. She was able to do the review below for Drop The Spotlight. Follow Absynthraven on Instagram and Twitch.

This game genuinely made me jump and scream. The character designs are fun, the music is catchy and creepy, and the atmosphere is scary. I was genuinely playing and got so nervous I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue. The colorful characters are feel very reminiscent of FNAF security breach. Rainbow Gate gives you bits and pieces of lore, allowing you to piece the history together as you play through the story.

When looking at the settings I noticed that there was no separate voice volume for your character. I had to turn the master volume and music down in order to hear the MC. Thankfully, subtitles were available!

I also want to note that this game (so far) is Keyboard and Mouse only. I tried to connect my controller to the game, but it would not recognize it. It would be nice to have controller compatibility in the future.

My only negative review of this game is the fact they use AI for the voices. I understand they are a small group of developers, and you gotta use the tools you have. I would LOVE to see a future patch update featuring real life VA’s (let me know where I can send my demo 😎).

While I did find myself stuck after playing for almost 2 hours, it’s a soft stuck. You have the opportunity to go into a different area to find the answer to a question, but you don’t have too. You can rely on your instinct.

I’m looking forward to completing this game and will be posting edited versions of my streams on my YouTube. It’s too much fun to not finish!
