Film Masters, with a mission of celebrating the preservation of classic film by releasing high-quality restorations on Blu-ray, proudly presents the special-edition Monster Mayhem Collection, available April 7th from Film Masters.
A two-disc collection of four iconic, all-expenses-spared, cult movies from the ’50s, each film is a 4K scan from 35mm archival prints in their original, theatrical aspect ratios. Complete with new liner notes by Tom Weaver, archival special features and film commentaries, this a must-have for any Monster Kid.
I was able to get a review copy of the Monster Mayhem Collection Special Edition. First, I was able to do a First Look video below to show you what you will get when you order you own copy.
First Look:
The films in this set is Monster From Green Hell, Frankenstein’s Daughter, Giant from the Unknown, and The Brain from Planet Arous. I was able to watch all 4 movies on my Blu Ray player from both discs. the restoration the team at Film Masters have done to these classics are remarkable. I remembered watching Frankenstein’s Daughter many years ago on television and didn’t blink an eye to the classic where now I’m fascinated with the colors and everything behind it. This gave a special meaning to myself as a film admirer of how well done the restoration was given to these films.
The special features on these Blu Ray discs are pretty cool. There are some documentaries in the special features including archival footage from film historians. I enjoy watching these because it takes you back when film making was done in those days and the art and passion the teams put into their films. The accompanied booklet that came with the Blu Ray set is pretty cool. The stories told in that booklet are amazing and I don’t want to spoil much but you will have fun with that!
