“TickTickBoom” showcases yet another facet of Maude’s artistry. She slows down the tempo as a dreamy beat underscores her lovestruck verses. Gentle vocals barely crack a whisper, and she coos, “I like nineties record and, you’re more like 2000s groovin’.” The momentum reaches a climax on the chorus, and her voice melts into the airy haze, “Tick tick tick tick tick…boom, I start to feel sick without you.” It captures the best kind of infatuation at the onset of a new romance.
Beyond “TickTickBoom,” she notably recharged and reupped Sugar Water (Deluxe) with five new tracks, including “Sailor 99,” “XO,” “Maps,” and the recent fan favorite “Miss America.” Upon release, the latter landed on Rolling Stone’s “Songs You Need To Know.” Plus, OnesToWatch hailed it as an “Ode to all-encompassing queer love,” going on to attest, “Maude Latour pens this epic single from her own perspective, but it’s clearly an anthem for all of her fans to experience together.”
Next up, she will hit the road as direct support to Alex Warren on his sold-out Cheaper Than Therapy Tour.
