LOS ANGELES – Jan. 15, 2025 – Latinx in Gaming, a nonprofit (501c3) organization connecting Latines across the gaming industry worldwide, appoints Elaine Gomez as president and welcomes a bevy of accomplished video game industry professionals to the Board of Directors.
Cristina Amaya, founder of Latinx in Gaming, has stepped down from her role as president to focus on her burgeoning career at Riot Games, and now acts as chair of the board. Elaine Gómez, previously vice president and co-founder of Latinx in Gaming, now serves as the organization’s president. Elaine has a wealth of game design experience both AAA and indie studios, and also taught game design as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University.
Diana Rodriguez steps into the role of vice president, bringing a bevy of tech and game industry expertise into the Latinx in Gaming community, having previously worked within companies like ICANN alongside her current role at Google. Michael Loreno takes over as Director of Communications and Marketing with a vast array of gaming and entertainment experience at Ubisoft, Warner Bros, and Intercept Games.
Amanda Parola, host of the Women Behind The Game podcast, is now Latinx Gaming’s new Director of Operations. She brings years of learning and talent development expertise to the organization with experience from both 2K Interactive and honeycomb.io.
Nick Gallegos, Owner and Lead Graphic Designer of Campfire Design Studio, will manage Latinx in Gaming’s visual identity as Director of Branding. Sofia Ayad lends her vast marketing and event expertise to Latinx in Gaming’s as their newest Event Manager, As a Special Operations Team Member at Insomniac Events, Sofia helped bring unforgettable experiences to life including events like EDC and Hard Summer.
“In the past seven years, we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, worked across countless facets of the industry, worked with the US government to enact change, and helped over 300+ people get hired into their dream roles,” said Cristina Amaya, Co-Founder and former President of Latinx in Gaming. “The world has changed so much since we started, and I know that this team will lead Latinx in the right direction.”
