New York, NY – Kaneb Andrews has released his new EP False Prophets, a collection of songs that captures the push-and-pull between faith and self-questioning, between the people we choose to believe in and the ones who let us down. Across five sincere and candid tracks, Andrews draws listeners into times where vulnerability, confusion, and faith intertwine. False Prophets is now available to stream on digital music platforms worldwide.
Kaneb Andrews’s introspective and cinematic new EP, False Prophets, walks listeners through his toughest times, offering hope when he felt lost and now standing as a powerful reminder of his growth. “I think this EP is me trying to figure out what and who I believe in,” Andrews explains. “False Prophets is a good title in that way, because it suggests that there are some people worth believing in, and there are some who might not be all that they promise. It suggests that I’ve believed before and been burned.” The EP opens with the previously unreleased track “Two-Wheeled Death Machine,” a reflective piece that showcases one of Andrews’ greatest periods of struggle. “I wrote this song when I had just caught a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel, when I had just started to claw my way out of the hole I was in. I think it captures a lot of the spiritual questions I was wrestling with at the time.” Throughout the song, he ponders whether there’s still something worth fighting for or believing in, before ultimately finding his answer: “Let’s get on a motorcycle tonight and just go for it, and try, and live, and fight for a dream, because we don’t have much time, and no one knows what will happen tomorrow.” The record also features previously released singles, “I DON’T WANNA TALK TO GOD” and “Recombination,” showcasing Andrews’s softer and more vulnerable side. “I DON’T WANNA TALK TO GOD” is an emotional outpouring inspired by three years of suppressed desire, a guttural cry of “I want you — please want me.” Meanwhile, “Recombination” questions whether we can truly change after heartfelt setbacks or if we’re merely rearranging the old parts of ourselves. Another previously released single, “Midnight Medicine,” brings an upbeat rhythm that channels deep longing, the desire for closeness, moving warmth, and the ache of loneliness and dependency. The EP closes with its title track, “False Prophets.” “‘Two-Wheeled Death Machine’ and ‘False Prophets’ serve as good bookends, because I open the EP by asking, ‘Don’t you want to believe in something, to hold on to something?’ and I close the EP by saying, ‘I think you’re the person I should believe in, I think you’re the person I should hold onto.’” Andrews began writing the EP in 2024 and recorded it live at Second Take Sound, with overdubs at Engine Sound alongside co-producer and engineer Matt Anthony. False Prophets ultimately stands as both a reckoning and a rebirth, a cinematic and deeply personal journey.
