A gargantuan invasion is coming with this fresh take on the legendary novel of the same name. Renowned actress Eva Longoria is joined by iconic rapper and actor Ice Cube, along with Michael O’Neill and Iman Benson, for a thrilling out-of-this-world adventure that is filled with present-day themes of technology, surveillance, and privacy.
I sat down on my couch to watch War of the Worlds on Prime Video. I wanted to see if the score people are giving it goes with the movie. Well first things first, I started to get motion sickness. I haven’t gotten motion sickness watching a movie in many many years and I developed a bad headache. While that is happening, I tried my best to watch and listen to the movie.
IF this movie didn’t have the “War of the Worlds” title and premise from its past history, this would have been a decent movie with a decent script. This could have been one of those “Found Footage” type movies I would have enjoyed to watch. Yet, they used too much switching images and video throughout the movie that caused me to have bad motion sickness. I for one, would have liked them to utilize another way to film from a perspective other than a neckbeard behind a keyboard.
They did touch a lot about privacy and how easily it can be for our data to be stolen and modified. I enjoyed that part of the movie which it garnered its 3 rating but everything else could have been improved greatly. With a cast such as Ice Cube and Eva Longoria, this should have been a good sci fi thriller. The quicken pace they used for the angles of the screens just hurled any positive reactions from many that took the time to watch the movie.
Rating: 3 out of 10
