Interview with Rocklust

Today, I was able to sit down with Rocklust to discuss their inspiration to write music, heroes, and much more. Be sure to check out the music of Rocklust on Spotify below after the interview.

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?

Our music is driven by pure passion and the need to express something real. We started Rocklust with the idea of creating original songs without compromises, and that mindset still defines everything we do. The inspiration comes from our daily lives, from personal experiences, emotions, and that constant tension between routine and the desire to chase something bigger.

With Smoking Wheels, we really explored that contrast, the struggle between everyday life and the urge to follow your passions. Some songs are more introspective, others more energetic or even socially critical, but they all come from something we genuinely feel. It’s not forced, it’s something that naturally comes out when we play and write together.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

We all come from a strong hard rock background, even if each of us has listened to many different genres over the years. The common ground is definitely rooted in classic hard rock: AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Scorpions.

At the same time, we’ve also been influenced by heavier and more modern acts like Motörhead,  Black Label Society and Airbourne. That mix is what shapes our sound — something that’s deeply connected to the ‘70s and ‘80s tradition but still played with a modern attitude and energy.

Is there someone you looked up to as a hero?

Our heroes are the legends of rock — the people who built this genre and lived it with authenticity. It’s not just about one single name, but about that entire generation of artists who created timeless music and a real attitude.

Of course, figures like Jimmy Page, Lemmy, or Ozzy Osbourne have had a huge impact on us, especially in terms of sound and stage presence. But more than anything, we look up to their mindset — staying true to themselves and their music, no matter what. A special place is taken by Toni Iommi, a real hero that transformed the everyday hard life into something legendary.

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?

Well, actually we all have an everyday let’s call normal life with normal jobs even if Rocklust project for us it’s not just a hobby, it’s something we feel the need to do. Before Rocklust, most of us spent years playing in other bands, especially tribute bands, so music has always been a central part of our lives. Rocklust itself was born exactly from that urge: to move from playing other people’s music to finally expressing our own.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?

The most important thing is to stay true to yourself and what you really want to express. Don’t chase trends — focus on what feels right to you.

Play as much as possible, especially live, because that’s where you really grow as musicians and as a band. And don’t be afraid to take risks or put yourself out there — Smoking Wheels itself was born from that decision to step up and create something original without too many compromises.

There will always be challenges, but if you really believe in what you’re doing, you have to keep going. Passion is the key — everything starts from there. Inizio modulo
