Interview with pointless

Today, I was able to sit down with pointless to discuss their inspiration to write music, heroes, and much more!

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

To me, inspiration mainly comes from inner states rather than external surroundings. I write music as a way of processing emotions, mental tension, and personal transitions. Of course, life situations and relationships feed into that, but the songs usually start from an internal feeling that needs an outlet, not from a specific place or scenery.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

Growing up, I listened mainly to classic rock at first, bands like AC/DC, The Beatles, Guns N’ Roses, Deep Purple, and Motörhead. Later, that shifted toward heavier guitar music and Nu Metal, including System of a Down, Avenged Sevenfold, Billy Talent, and similar 2000s bands. That mix still shapes how I approach songwriting today.

Is there someone you looked up to as a hero?

I had a phase with Lemmy from Motörhead as he is often associated with the “spirit” of the guitar music scene. To this day I have a little action figure of him on my audio monitor. I was very inspired by M. Shadows and Synester Gates as well, as they shaped the sounds of A7Xs lead parts.

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?

I would be pursuing my academic career full-time. I’m working toward a PhD in law, with a focus on technology, AI, and creative work. Even without music, I’d still be involved in research and writing that deals with structure, ideas, and expression. Also I am very interested in Software Development and Coding.

What can you tell us about your new single ‘Give Me A Sign’?

“Give Me A Sign” is a dark and heavy track that deals with inner confusion and the search for meaning during a difficult phase of my life. The lyrics are intentionally open, so listeners can decide for themselves who or what the “sign” might be and who is addressed by the callout. Musically, it combines heavy guitar parts with dramatic vocal harmonies and serves as the lead single for the upcoming EP poıntless #2 – Tension For Closure.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Don’t buy gear, instead invest in your musical skills. Take lessons and practice as much as possible. Also, if you’re serious about music don’t neglect marketing and PR as attention has become a scarce resource these days.
