Heroes of Dragon Mount Review

By Todd Hoefler

The Heroes of Dragon Mount is a game based on a board game from Gladius Editions that was created by Thomas Wilson. This universe branched out from the world of board games to books with the help of Louis Patalano. Then it was turned into a video game by Runiq Studios founded by Thomas Wilson. This takes place in a medieval world where magic rules the land. This continent is divided into eight different kingdoms, and each has its own conflicts within each territory.

The story is about Hydrazelia the last Celestial Dragon, that has protected the continent for almost two millennia and has appointed eight brave souls to bring peace to the land. These eight souls, if they are deemed worthy enough, will receive celestial powers to replace Hydrazelia as guardians of the continent. This way he can leave this world in peace once the League of Dragon-Souls is in place. These heroes Ozlow of the Shadow Elves of the Elven Sanctuary. Eliadora is an Elf of the Forest, with her trusty bow and arrow. Grog a Half Orc from the Goblin Plains. Fenek a Warrior Monk of the Forbidden Desert. Tiberius is a Barbarian from Hell Gorges. Altazar a Magician from Arcane Valley, Zenora a Witch from the Forgotten Crypts. Leone a Knight from the Frozen Peaks. These eight warriors will travel to the eight kingdoms to solve conflicts and take down anyone who stands in their way.

I got to play The Heroes of Dragon Mount, and here is my review. Heroes of Dragon Mount is a four-player game. The only characters available in the beta are Ozlow, Eliadora, Grog, and Fenek. Each level if you choose to play this way is tailored to certain characters in the game. One of the levels I played was the Elven Sanctuary which is the home of Ozlow the Shadow Elf. Fighting your way through this level as Ozlow seemed a lot smoother than playing through the Goblin Plains as Eliadora. When you select the character and start each level they travel there in their dragon forms which is one of the coolest parts of the game. I believe the game was designed this way to give each player on the team a chance to lead if you were to play multiplayer. The game play is smooth, and the artwork of the game is absolutely stunning. The bosses are fun, and a challenge to fight against. The interactions of the main characters are funny but can be interesting and intense at times as they are trying to get to know and bond with each other during their adventures. I really like the story of the game that they were chosen by the last Celestial Dragon to be the guardians of the world that they live in. The controls are easy and are combo based. There are even character-specific moves, and special attacks. The challenges and some of the destructible parts of the environment are fun as well. If you enjoy beat’em ups, medieval fantasy, or both, this is the game for you.

I wish all the success in the world to Runiq Studios, Thomas Wilson, and Louis Patalano. I hope this game brings in new fans to everything in the world of Heroes of Dragon Mount. This has been my review of the Heroes of Dragon Mount coming out on Steam on June 25th, 2025. There are also plans for the game to come to the Nintendo Switch in September 2025, and to the PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X later this year.
