Already renowned in her home country, Denmark, Malu Pierini is poised to captivate a global audience with a new sound that blends her heritage with her evolving identity. ‘Souvenir’ is an autumn stroll through Paris, combining honest and dreamy lyrics that express the bittersweet beauty of belonging to multiple places at once.
“I’ve spent the past year digging into the core of my own story, making my music more personal. I used to be unconsciously guided by others’ expectations, but with these new songs, I’m allowing myself to write about things I’d normally keep to myself – and for the first time, my roots and my full name have a place in my music. Symbolically, ‘Souvenir’ is about opening a new chapter, traveling out into the world alone — and discovering that you don’t miss your partner and your old life back home as much as you know you should,” says Malu Pierini.
‘Souvenir’ is a new start and about finding yourself again. There’s a longing in Malu’s soulful and gentle voice as the piano merges with Mediterranean bossa nova rhythms and the classic French accordion to create one of the most warming pop choruses of Autumn 2024.
The Danish-Corsican singer has become quite a phenomenon on the Copenhagen live scene selling out every show. Her most recent singles, ‘Small Talk’ and ‘Comfort Zone’, premiered on Danish national radio while gaining international coverage from several music blogs and media including support from COLORS, Ones To Watch, Cusica and ENFNTS Terribles.
‘Souvenir’ is the first release by Malu Pierini in her full name and the lead single from an upcoming debut album set to be released in 2025.
