Heart of Darkness is a complete Cinematic Scenario for the ALIEN roleplaying game. It is a stand-alone adventure, but also serves as a conclusion to the Draconis Strain Saga begun in the cinematic scenario Chariot of the Gods and continued in Destroyer of Worlds. The scenario is designed for 3–5 players plus the Game Mother, and is a spiraling descent into soul-crushing madness.
We were able to get a review sample of Alien: The Role Playing Game: Heart of Darkness. I was able to do do an unboxing video below that you can watch and see what you would get with the purchase. Once done, my friends and I were able to sit down to check out the game. We were able to choose our characters that were already pre made. I enjoy the pre made characters as we can dive into the game quicker and also know our attributes.
I don’t want to spoil much, but here is some info:
During the game, we noticed the story tended more to the psychological horror instead of the mere Xenomorphs that were are used. This created agendas that are different with each character, that we utilized from the cards, to achieve personal things. The terror this created had myself double guessing myself on certain scenarios. I didn’t know who to trust or what to expect next. This provided a fun and exciting game as we had to be our own detectives.
A different game but still awesome!
