Under The Rug’s upcoming album, happiness is easy, unfolds over two parts and 30 tracks, delving into the complexities of seeking joy. This release features the band’s hallmark mix of irreverence, irony, and dark humor. Produced with the assistance of David Peters and incorporating contributions from co-writers such as Sam Hollander (Panic! At the Disco, Fitz and the Tantrums) and Mason Jennings, the album artfully combines deeply personal reflections with broader existential inquiries about life and satisfaction. The lead single, “mad girl’s love song,” is an interpretation of Sylvia Plath’s famous villanelle.
