The Rhonda Accords Get Cozy with ‘Creature Comforts’

Musician and songwriter Jes Clifford (known as the lead guitarist/backing vocalist of the cleverly satirical but always raucous country/rock band Jomo & The Possum Posse) has released his debut full-length album, “Creature Comforts,” with his band The Rhonda Accords on October 24, 2025.

From R&B-style grooves with swagger to minimalist country tracks and rockier songs that highlight Clifford’s songwriting abilities (especially on the chorus of “Creature Comforts,” the penultimate song on the record), the album flows incredibly well. It’s perhaps best suited for a nighttime cruise down Mopac or IH-35 with the windows down.

Twangy and soaring guitar solos abound on this album – to be expected from such an experienced and versatile guitar player as Clifford – but The Rhonda Accords do not shy away from other unique and interesting production choices on songs like “Chloe” and “The Glitter Bar.”

Many of the songs express longing, love and heartbreak, and fear of the future. Within the sparkly twang of “The Glitter Bar,” Clifford sings about losing his date to Ryan Gosling. Conversely, on songs like “Regime” and “Berlin,” the sentiments echo the political concerns of many Americans these days, while focusing on what we can all relate to – the comfort of loved ones.

Overall, while Clifford’s work with Jomo & The Possum Posse complements singer Jomo Edwards’s expressive and cheeky wit, Clifford takes a more straightforward approach in his songwriting. It’s fresh, yet familiar, and feels authentic to the singer/songwriter’s musical sensibilities.

Get comfortable wth this record, because you will surely be hearing more from Jes Clifford in the near future.
