teo tala Walks Listeners Through The Five Stages of Grief on New EP good grief

Los Angeles, CA –  Southern California indie-pop artist teo tala releases his new EP, good grief, a five-song conceptual project that traces the aftermath of heartbreak through the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Rooted in confessional storytelling and sunlit pop production, the EP captures the quiet chaos of falling in love, losing it, and learning how to move forward. Across its arc, good grief offers listeners a companion through heartache and healing, meeting them at each stage rather than rushing toward closure. The EP is now available on all major streaming platforms.

Each track on good grief represents a distinct emotional chapter. The opening song, “down bad” lingers in denial, circling late-night conversations, study rooms, and memories that refuse to fade. “i’m doing fine!” moves into anger, pairing sharp honesty with frustration and resentment. On “she loves me so,” tala enters the bargaining stage, clinging to hope and romantic logic while searching for meaning in what was lost. The EP’s low point arrives with “love doctor,” which sits firmly in depression, reflecting the exhaustion of trying to fix heartbreak through external cures and self-destructive coping mechanisms. The record closes with “let them go,” the acceptance stage, where tala finally turns toward clarity, acknowledging that sometimes love means choosing release over repair. “good grief is a five-song journey where each track represents one of the five stages of grief,” tala explains. “I hope to offer listeners a relatable soundtrack to heartbreak and healing.” Produced by Bryan Hernandez, with mixing and mastering by Hersol Hernandez and Martin Riley (Abbey Road Studios), good grief reflects teo tala’s blend of intimate songwriting and modern indie-pop sensibility.

Self-described as “Jason Mraz meets Harry Styles with acoustic poetry,” teo tala is a Filipino-American singer-songwriter who channels emotion, heritage, and the growing pains of early adulthood into his music. After a stint working at Google in Chicago, he returned home to Southern California to pursue music full-time, first gaining attention with his debut single, “white pearls.” Drawing inspiration from artists like Conan Gray, Khai Dreams, and boy pablo, he found his creative foundation through the ukulele and bedroom-pop aesthetics. His work has earned praise from outlets including JammerzineIGGY Magazine, and OutLoud! Culture.

good grief stands as teo tala’s most fully realized statement to date, honoring the complexity of heartbreak without rushing its resolution. By mapping the emotional arc from denial to acceptance, the EP offers listeners permission to feel each stage fully and move through grief at their own pace. Stream good grief now on all major platforms, and follow teo tala on Instagram at @teotalamusic for updates.
