San Antonio Gaming Summit Kicks Off SA Startup Week

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 9, 2025) — San Antonio is leveling up its creative scene with the city’s first-ever Gaming Summit, taking place Sunday, Oct. 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Geekdom, 110 E. Houston St., in the heart of downtown.

 

As the official pre-conference event for San Antonio Startup Week 2025, the San Antonio Gaming Summit marks a major milestone for the region’s tech and creative communities, bringing together video game developers, educators, streamers, and industry professionals for a full day of keynotes, interactive sessions, competitions, and showcases. This inaugural event celebrates San Antonio’s emergence as a growing hub for innovation in gaming, esports, and interactive media, setting the stage for the city’s next big chapter in digital creativity.

Ansley Rose Partosa, head of the Greater Gaming Society of San Antonio and the organizer of this year’s Gaming Summit at Geekdom, shared her enthusiasm for the event, saying, “The San Antonio Gaming Summit is the first of its kind for San Antonio.   • Opening Keynote (9:00 AM): Dr. Jihan Johnston-McGlotten on inclusion and innovation in gaming.
  • Educational Workshops: Covering topics such as Starting School Esports Clubs (K–12)AI in Education and Game Development, and The Impact of Collegiate Esports.
  • Industry Sessions: Panels on The Business of EsportsThe Power of XR, and Texas State of the Games Industry to help creators and studios grow.
  • Creative Career Tracks: Talks on How to Get Started in Game Dev and Careers & Creativity in Animation.
  • Esports and Streaming: Insights from collegiate clubs and local streamers on building sustainable gaming communities.
  • Interactive Expo and Gaming Showcase: Featuring indie developers, student projects, and local partners, plus areas for console and tabletop play.
  • Game Developer Pitch Competition (3:30 PM): Creators compete for cash prizes: $500 (1st), $250 (2nd), $150 (3rd), $100 (4th) before a live audience.
