TOKYO – Feb. 9, 2026 – RPG Maker Festival 2026 has begun! Gotcha Gotcha Games, a KADOKAWA group subsidiary, today announces a free Steam week for RPG Maker MZ, taking place from Monday, Feb. 9-Monday, Feb. 16 PST. This unveiling kicks off for the annual event running from today at 10 a.m. PT (3 a.m. JST) until Monday, Feb. 23, 2026 PST (Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 JST).

RPG Maker Festival celebrates the imagination and passion of the more than 10 million users worldwide who use RPG Maker Series tools to bring their gamedev dreams to life. Held every year around Maker’s Day on Feb. 15, the festival spotlights these incredible storytellers and revels in the joy of accessible game creation possible with tools like RPG Maker MV and RPG Maker MZ. The event also offers creators the opportunity to showcase their beloved projects while encouraging players to find their next favorite game.
Free Weekend and Free DLC:
RPG Maker MZ’s Free Weekend (allowing you to try the full features for free for one week) runs from Monday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. PST to Monday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. PST.
Additionally, the RPG Maker 4 Graphic Asset Pack, a version of the RPG Maker 4 DLC for RPG Maker MZ, will be released for free on the official RPG Maker store from today at 10 a.m. PT (3 a.m. JST) to Monday, Feb. 23, 2026 at 7 p.m. PST (Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 at 12 p.m. JST.

Special Broadcast Event:
A special broadcast event will be held tentatively at 8 p.m. JST (3 a.m. PST) to commemorate Maker’s Day on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026.
The Japanese version of the broadcast will feature highly influential Japanese guests, including Nichijo-Gumi (2.5M YT subscribers) member Shinigami, veteran Nico Nico streamer and official instructor for RPG Maker MV, Max, and Minuhinome, the developer of Heavy Spoilers RPG: The true identity of the final enemy is the hero’s father, will create a game live for the online audience! The English version of the event will be held simultaneously, hosted by popular bilingual creators HighGai and J-mon.
