RISING RAPPER LG MALIQUE SHARES HIS INSPIRING JOURNEY ON CARVED IN GOLD MIXTAPE

April 3, 2025 (Los Angeles, CA) — Today, bracingly honest and deeply expressive artist LG Malique shares his Carved in Gold mixtape. The new set serves up eight melodic songs as emotional as they are inspirational. Listen HERE via Warner Records.

Rooted in Malique’s “Living Gold” ethos — a mindset of unwavering positivity and resilience — Carved in Gold is a testament to enduring life’s pressures and emerging stronger, just like gold refined under fire. Over the project’s tracks, he looks at his past with the wisdom of the present and at his future with clear-eyed hope. Aided by a voice tailor-made to convey emotion, he takes listeners on a journey through relatable struggles, hard-won success, and incredible grace.

The standout track “Explaining How It Is” drops us right into the struggle with a transmission from the trenches by Jacksonville rapper Yungeen Ace. Pensive piano, humming organ, and heavy bass set the mood, while Malique projects a cinematic scene: “You put my family in the mix, it’s guaranteed some getting dropped / Final warning, please don’t try me ’cause you know that’s all I got / And I don’t like promoting violence, but I’m prepared for any block / Your environment can turn you into somebody you’re not.” He and Ace explore the scenario from different angles.

“This song is raw, unfiltered truth, no sugarcoating,” says Malique of “Explaining How It Is.” “Growing up in an environment where you always have to be ready changes you, and I’ve seen it happen too many times. Loyalty means everything, especially when it comes to family, and I’ve lost too much to play games. Even with success, I stay focused because I know how fast it can all disappear. This isn’t just music for me; it’s survival, therapy, and breaking the cycle.”

Last month, he released Carved in Gold single “Give It to God,” a gripping song that sees Malique lay it all bare, from childhood challenges to unthinkable loss to unshakeable faith. His signature melodic flow cuts deep there and throughout the new mixtape, which follows his 2024 breakout Living Gold EP, featuring his viral, deeply affecting rework of Lukas Graham’s “Seven Years” (18.4+ million streams). Praised by Wonderland, The Knockturnal, Earmilk, Notion, and more, Malique is fast cementing his place among rap’s new generation of storytellers. He was also recently dubbed an “Artist to Watch” and interviewed by The Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

With Carved in Gold, the breakout star continues to elevate his artistry, sharing his inspiring journey thus far while proving that we’re only at the beginning of the full story he has to tell.

ABOUT LG MALIQUE

Wielding an expressive tenor and unashamed emotion, LG Malique makes melodic street songs for the everyman. Dating back to his 2019 EP 100 Days, the Arkansas-bred rapper has swirled lithe vocals and passionate vignettes for underdog anthems that strike the heart of perseverance and aspiration. It’s a combination he flaunts again on Living Gold, a sleek constellation of survival affirmations that oscillate between stylish trap and bleary-eyed confessionals. He leans into the former with “Seven Years,” an impassioned remake of Lukas Graham’s 2015 classic. As heartfelt as it is unrelentingly authentic, it’s dreamer music designed for believers. Years before he made a national impression, Malique was a boy soaking up the sights and sounds of Blytheville, Arkansas, where his mother and aunts would play him the musical testimonies of artists like Alicia Keys, Usher, and Fantasia. When he was with his uncle he’d cruise around in an Impala listening to Yo Gotti and Three 6 Mafia. While he embraced the streets early on, he eventually pivoted to music. Powered by versatile melodies and vivid tales from the trenches, his 2019 EP 100 Days collected thousands of streams and a fan base that grows to this day. He continued building momentum with projects like Long Story Short and Colorblind, soul-baring 2023 projects that reaffirmed his knack for creating tunes that were as emotionally affecting as they were irresistible. His Living Gold and Carved in Gold EPs stand as his most engrossing efforts—the culmination of prayers, positivity, and thousands of hours of practice. Although he’s faced some of the perils in life, he won’t let them stop him from his next and greatest level up. Years of struggle prepared him for a victory years in the making.
