June 13, 2025 (Los Angeles, CA) — Today, alt-R&B auteur Nobu Woods releases his new single, “WHITEOUT.” Written, produced, and recorded entirely by the New York native, the sexually charged track is as sonically inventive as it is lyrically direct. Listen HERE and watch the visualizer HERE via Second Estate / Warner Records.

With its glistening atmosphere, eerie chimes, and experimental production, “WHITEOUT” isn’t your typical R&B song. Woods’ aching voice infuses the song with an intense sense of desire as he addresses his lover. He moves fluidly between yearning melodies and an assertive rhythmic delivery as the track picks up darkly lush layers. Nobu says of the track:

”In short, “WHITEOUT” is a club anthem,” says Woods. ”In this song, nothing exists but ‘the now’ and the way the female subject is feeling. All that matters is that two people are together, feeling completely free, and enjoying each other’s company.”

”WHITEOUT” is also Woods’ first new release since dropping his project, the brooding and progressive UNTL EP, an 8-song exploration and expression of the more complex and intimate facets of intense romantic love. UNTL included several never-before-heard songs alongside three singles: the soulful, melancholy “FAULT,” club-ready breakup anthem “SPLIT,” and ice-cold ”SAVIOR.”

Nobu Woods continues to push the boundaries of modern R&B, merging raw emotion with bold sonic experimentation. As he carves out his own lane, this latest release signals an artist unafraid to bare it all—on his own terms.

ABOUT NOBU WOODS:

There are few voices in New York R&B quite like Nobu Woods. The singer-songwriter and producer prioritizes vulnerability and honesty in his work, offering an antidote to the Big Apple’s relentless hustle. The Queens-born Woods is making boundless and rule-breaking music, earning a devoted audience with 2022’s IRIS and 2023’s mixtape MIDNIGHT MOTIONS. While those projects found him putting a subtle spin on modern R&B, he steers into even more unique, individual, and vulnerable terrain on his new Warner Records/Second Estate singles “SAVIOR” and “SPLIT.” The singer was born in Jamaica, Queens, but went to school a full 45-minute train ride across the borough in Corona. Between hanging out with his cousins at home and being introduced to music production at the house, Woods grew up in two communities with different rules, music, and culture, all of which have informed his style. Now, he knows his self-belief has taught him a valuable lesson, one he thinks about every time he hits the studio: “I just follow what I hear in my head,” he says. So far, the sounds and ideas that float through his mind have built an audience that spans generations and locales. With his upcoming music, he wants to highlight his emotional being even more. “I want my music to be memorable,” he explains. “I do that by building songs around moments from my life.”
