REACH FOR THE MOON WITH DREAMSTRUCK

It all began with the aesthetic beat of a vintage drum machine becoming the lo-fi backbone to soundscapes that, on the contrary, are both grandiose and dreamy. The voice and melodies of Karen Krogshøj are bright and clear, cool as the bass riffs she plays, and in the meeting with Jonas Strucks’ ever-curious musical mind and raw surf and shoegaze-inspired guitars, Dreamstruck emerged between the two.

Soon, the longtime couple realized that Dreamstruck wasn’t just a new creative space – it was a deeper level of understanding their relationship and the nuances of love and life.

“To write so openly about our relationship and share my innermost thoughts with Jonas obviously sparked confrontations when the core of our conflicts was framed in our music. Eventually, the whole process turned out to have an almost therapeutic effect on us. Love is about communication, facing differences and difficulties, and dealing with them. I guess that’s what Dreamstruck is about: a shared declaration of love,” says Karen Krogshøj.

The lead single, ‘Moon’, from their upcoming self-titled album out January 10th, addresses the vulnerability at stake between her and Jonas. It’s about reaching for the moon in the darkest hour of a relationship, to find a sparkling hope and shine again, together. ‘Moon’ is notably a duet with Mathias Bertelsen, lead singer of the acclaimed noise rock trio, The Entrepreneurs.

Even though they are about to release their debut next year, Dreamstruck is an experienced musical duo. Jonas Struck is an award-winning film score composer, also known as the guitarist of one of the most renowned Danish indie acts of the 2000s, Swan Lee. Karen Krogshøj is a lyricist, songwriter and bass player formerly part of the rock band Vamp Camp, along with Sharin Foo of The Raveonettes. Karen has also become the signature voice of several of Jonas’ scores, including the international Netflix hit series, Ragnarok.

The debut album by Dreamstruck is co-produced by Brian Batz (Sleep Party People), and the LP is now available for pre-order worldwide via Rough Trade.
