September 29, 2025—New York, NY—Xeric award-winning writer Neil Kleid (The Panic, Brownsville, Nice Jewish Boys) and artist Alex Cormack go Medieval this November with a bombastic new series about baseball, the Bronx, and sixth-century Britain! Written and lettered by Kleid with art and colors by Alex Cormack and edits by Sarah Litt, Medieval issue #1 (of 5) debuts on November 11, 2025, from Amazon’s Comixology Originals exclusive digital content line.
Loud, brash, boisterous and over the top, Kleid takes a swing at something very different and out of his wheelhouse and hits a home run with Medieval, his most brutal, bloody, and vulgar – yet still emotionally grounded—comic series to date.
“This story is a clear departure from my usual over-thought, over-written dramatic treatises about legacy and the human condition,” says writer Neil Kleid. “Oh, it’s still about being human – it’s a love story. Not chivalric romance, but a story about two time-lost lovers who find themselves in a strange place and learn not only their limits, but about what they actually need to become the best versions of themselves. Oh, and it’s about baseball. Oh, and a chance to curse my a** off.”
“I was hesitant to jump in on Medieval, being from Massachusetts and loving baseball,” says artist Alex Cormack, “but Neil’s story was too much fun to miss out on. And I’m so happy I did jump on, because every panel has been a blast to draw! Castles, knights, baseball, dragons (uh, spoilers!), carnage – what’s not to love!”
Baseball fan Danny Landau and his girlfriend Gina Rabinowitz attend a baseball game to watch their favorite Bronx team take on their most notorious rivals. After being hit by a line drive, Danny wakes up in sixth-century England, out of time with no skills other than a knack for construction, a love for baseball, and a penchant for violence. After spending the next year drinking and fighting, seeking a way back home to his girl and New York, Danny’s unique form of loud-mouthed chivalry – and “The Babe,” his custom-designed iron baseball bat – gains the attention of Camelot, and Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table, bringing him helm-to-boot with King Arthur, Lancelot, and Merlin, the notoriously wily magician who may have Danny’s ticket home… but whose true intentions aren’t trustworthy! When cultures clash and their meeting takes a violent turn, Lancelot suggests a Grand Tournament of valor, gallantry, and might as Arthur Pendragon of Camelot and Danny Landau from the Bronx – an ale-swilling, bat-wielding brawler – engage in a battle of the ages.
Kleid and Cormack let er’ rip in this violent, mature original comic about an irreverent, would-be, time-lost hero ready to go medieval on Camelot in order to find his way back home. As the 2025 baseball postseason comes to a close, Medieval will keep readers entertained well after the last inning and in anticipation of the 2026 baseball season!
