Limited Run Games Opens Pre-Orders For The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit On PS5, Switch, and NES

PHILADELPHIA, PA – November 4, 2025 – Prepare to experience the physical embodiment of Nerd Rage! Philly-based publisher and developer Retroware is excited to announce that physical pre-orders for The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit are now live for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 through forever-physical publisher Limited Run Games.

Developed by Programancer—the developer behind Prison City and The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest—The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit released digitally on October 23 on all modern platforms. It delivers an authentic, side-scrolling action experience inspired by the toughest NES classics. Combining pixel-perfect retro presentation with modern production values, the current-gen versions feature exclusive live-action footage filmed just for the game to make it feel like a fully interactive episode of the long-running Cinemassacre web series

In addition to the modern versions, Limited Run Games is ready to take players back to the past with four exclusive physical editions for the original NES. Developed by Pittsburgh-based developer and publisher Mega Cat Studios, this version is perfect for capturing that authentic Nerd experience and is available in four cartridge colors: Standard Edition NES Gray ($69.99), and Limited Edition ($79.99) Legendary Gold, Nerd Rage Red, and Super Mecha Baddie Blue, perfect for lining the walls of your Nerd Room.

“Playing AVGN 8-Bit feels like you’re entering my subconscious mind as the Nerd, encountering all the enemies and stages that I’ve reviewed on the show,” said The Angry Video Game Nerd, James Rolfe. “It’s an amalgamation of all your NES dreams and nightmares. From Retroware, teaming up with Mega Cat Studios and Programancer, this is sure to bring back all those retro memories of gripping the controller, screaming, and fist pumping.”

Physical pre-orders for all versions close on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Nerd fans can get a taste of the action today with the demo, now available to download on Steam and Nintendo Switch.
