Kyle Waves Releases Hypnotic Electronic-Pop Track, “Picture In My Phone”

New York, NY — Dance-pop musician Kyle Waves has released his newest alluring, pop-tinged track, “Picture In My Phone.” The silky, electronic anthem expands on Waves’s evolving sonic vision while still encapsulating the addictive dance-pop grooves that defined his previously lauded EP, Signals. Pulsating electronic beats vibrate throughout the track as he delivers a self-assured, emotionally poignant performance. “Picture In My Phone,” with its enticing electronic production, is now available to stream on digital music platforms worldwide. A music video for the song will follow.

The song marks a journey into a darker, more ambient sound for the electronic-pop artist, burning with a tense yet dignified resolve. On “Picture In My Phone,” Kyle Waves resolves not to continue texting a past lover who still haunts his phone screen. Both literally and symbolically, the singer lets the contact photo fade, preferring unanswered questions and solitude over a crushing, dismal relationship. “Even if you try to do me right, it’s not right,” Kyle Waves laments, fully letting go of a distant situationship that has little hope of improving. The track captures the emotional turning point of choosing self-preservation over familiarity, even when closure remains elusive. Discussing the single as a stepping stone toward 2026, Kyle Waves says, “I like using the first track I release in a year to set the tone of what’s to come. Right now, I want to show the confidence that I’ve gained as an artist and also in my personal life, and I think that will be present a lot throughout this year and in the songs I’m working on. Last year, I felt like I finally figured out what type of artist I am, sonically speaking, and this year I really want to steer that towards something a little darker, sexier, and grown up because that’s the phase of life I am in right now. So this song is sort of the beginning of the plan being put into action.” Kyle Waves once again recruited Kai Tsao (21 Savage, Kid Cudi) of KLND Audio to mix and master the song. Strobe-soaked house beats twist and turn, punctuated by soft piano notes, creating a sound system that mirrors Kyle Waves’s emotional restraint and release. The single showcases the brazen, carnal feeling of dancing in a club while ignoring vibrating messages lighting up your phone screen. “The message of this track, although it features an ended relationship and a past lover, is actually more about the self and growing to no longer feel the need to cling on to something that’s not working,” Waves reveals. “Not picking up calls, not wanting them back, not centering them anymore, until they really are just a picture in my phone. Basically, self-strength and growth to better things over that weakness and stagnation.”

Kyle Waves, a Singapore-born, New York City-based artist, has established himself within both the queer and Asian communities, drawing inspiration from cult-followed artists such as Yves, PinkPantheress, Troye Sivan, and Lexie Liu, with his crisp vocals and rich tone. His music incorporates a distinct visual identity with choreographed routines, seen in his recent music videos for “I Feel Too Much For You” and “Thinking Bout It.” Waves’ music has been featured on the OutLoud Radio show, New Queer Friday, and played on 987FM in Singapore. He has also been touted in the press by Out Magazine, QueertyEarmilkEQ Music, and Ones To Watch. His newest EP, Signals, marked a stepping toward unfeigned liberation, exploring the complexities of love and heartbreak in queer spaces. His music has also served as a foundation for Going To The Top, a play shown at the Tampa International Fringe Festival.

“Picture In My Phone” perfectly soundtracks the late-night text you want to ignore while feeling the pull of an after-hours, midnight-hazed rendezvous. The single is now available to stream and download. A music video for the track will follow on his YouTube channel.
