Interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?
I’m not sure if our surroundings inspire us in an encouragement way. In fact, I’m pretty sure we’re discouraged by cost of life and general indifference. Regardless, we react to these events by doing music.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
We grew up in the 90s and alternative rock was big. Beck was the biggest pop star once. Outside that, in lower to middle class Kansas, you listen to classic rock and country so there you go. Once in college, you start to expand and get into sub genres. For ‘Locked Out on Valentine’s Day’ our influences were Curtis Mayfield, Percy Faith, the local Lincoln Civic Orchestra, and Obongjayar.
Is there someone you looked up to as a hero?
My dad. RIP.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?
We all work over 40 hours a week not doing music. I work 80 myself. No cap. Got the W2s to prove it.
What can you tell us about your upcoming release ‘Locked Out on Valentine’s Day’?
It’s about relationships. Not just smashing but being smashed by the pressures of life. When that happens, you hope to come out some type of jewel that the rich wanna show off. This album has been well received by those who heard it so it may have a shot of being pretty, shiny, and adored.
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?
Have a lot of money or connections or something interesting to say. And have a good plan B. Granted, this is coming from an obscure act. We had good plan Bs and now have money so there you go.
