Interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?
We have seen so much positive movement in the music industry, around mental health and mistreatment of people. It’s undeniable that music has been a clear vehicle for this change, without music and the other creative arts we would have a much more closed minded attitude to these things. Music gives people an outlet to feel, to relate and to express themselves. Some people use music, and writing music, as a protective barrier to show their true selves. As musicians we want to aid the world in this evolutionary journey. As individuals in our band we don’t feel like we have anything else to contribute to the world other than this, if we can help everyone here is all music, or even one individual it will be worth it for us. We want to break down roles and contribute to a much larger picture in our own way.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
It’s honestly just too big an answer, like it really all starts with the tracks our parents played when we were kids. Jeez, Shania Twain? Frank Sinatra? ABBA? We just don’t fucking know ha!
I mean, Billie Eilish and Imagine Dragons are pretty sick though…
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
No one specific tbh, I think it was just all the artists that came before us, the ones on the stage when we were kids
If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?
JR – “I’d probably have passed my fucking exams HA!”
Probably be working in a bar or something, or working in venue, even if I wasn’t a musician id still want full-time exposure to the arts one way or another.
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?
I think it took us a long time to learn this ourselves, but we would definitely say that it feels scary to try and create something truly different, but you should always be fearless. No massive cultural shift ever happened from copying something that has already been done, to truly make an impact you need to present it in a form that hasn’t been seen before. Think of bands like Bring Me the Horizon & Imagine Dragons, or artists like Billie Eilish. These artists came up with something truly beautiful and great, and it is practically impossible to think of another artist that can do what they do. They are some of the biggest artists on the planet, and the thing they have in common is that they were all fearless.
