Today, we sat down with Gorethrone to talk inspiration, writing, heroes, and more in music! Be sure to check out their music on Spotify below after the interview!
Here is the interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?
I would say alot of our inspiration comes from just the love of the music, drive and passion to create and put on a good performance. A ton of stuff is being written right now
that is heavily fueled by the scarier things in life hint
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
I grew up on mostly classic rock as a kid, and then when I got older it was grunge. After that, I found metal. Some of the first metal bands I found were Korn, Slipknot and Mudvayne, and that’s where it all started with me for metal.
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
My hero would probably be Marc Okabo of Veil of Maya. His lead stuff is crazy, along with his rhythms. Also, he is not just good at playing, but is a good songwriter.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?
I would probably do something with skateboarding, like making decks or running a skate shop.
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?
Don’t write music to fit in a specific genre, but just write music you guys like. Also, find people that you get along with. That might sound like a no-brainer, but I’ve been in bands where one person doesn’t fit, and we give up because he was good, so it broke the band up. Calm down and flow/vibe with your band mates.
