Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

Inspiration comes from all around me.  This can be the ups and downs of everyday life, a piece of art, a movie that inspires me, or a random occurrence I witness during the day.  I try to make an effort to observe what’s going on around and to consume a lot of information such as new books, music, and film.   How I internalize all these things ends up being the foundation for the beginning of a riff or a lyrical theme.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

I was heavy into the grunge and metal scene.  Bands like Alice in Chains, Tool, Pantera, Ocean Machine, SYL, Metallica, Megadeth, Nirvana, and Soundgarden.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

One of my biggest musical hero’s is Devin Townsend.  His talent and ability to defy genres is truly inspiring.  He continues to push boundaries and his ability to communicate the breadth and depth of human emotions through his music is incredible.  On top of it all, he is a brilliant musician and vocalist.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Music has been part of my life for so long now I cannot image doing anything else.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Just keep pushing.  Stay resilient and make it honest.  Do not take practice for granted and grind at your craft.  There are other people out there working hard; be sure they’re not working harder than you.
