Interview with Abbey Pierce

Today, we sat down with Abbey Pierce to discuss her musical inspiration, heroes, and much more. Be sure to check out her music in the link below after the interview!

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

You could say that. There are a lot of times I can recall I’ve observed something in my current environment and the thought inspired a hook or a chorus. But for the most part, I write about my lived experiences. Common themes in my writing are resiliency and transformation.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

I am a 90’s baby and I was raised by the ladies of that decade! Shania Twain, Jo Dee Messina, The Chicks and Faith Hill were among my favorites.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

Loretta Lynn. She was a trailblazer in country music, paving the way for women to follow in her footsteps. She had things to say and wasn’t afraid to say them. She’s inspired me to use my voice in more ways than just singing.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

I’m currently balancing a 9 to 5 as a project manager to keep the lights on and burning the midnight oil pursuing music. Over the last year, I’ve really positioned my creative energy on the production of EP, and as connected as the world is via the internet now, I’m hopeful that my music will reach the right people and my efforts in seeking opportunities will start seeking me back!

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Remember there is only one you. Be present with your art and be intentional with it. Listen to your heart (not just head) and keep at it. Somebody, somewhere needs it.

What can you tell us about your latest single ‘Down to Earth’?

The final track to release from my debut EP is called “Down to Earth.” It’s my most personal track on the EP as it was written from a vulnerable place that is difficult to externalize. I wanted to write a love song about my relationship with my husband and how he loves me through all kinds of emotions – good and bad. That kind of love is worth keeping two feet on the ground for and definitely worth having a song about.
