Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell wooed a boisterous Austin crowd on Saturday, August 23, 2025, during his I Want Blood Tour stop at Emo’s on East Riverside.
Energetic El Paso, TX punk rockers Sparta opened, warming up the crowd for a night of guitar-heavy tunes. Then, Cantrell and the band ripped through an 18-song set, featuring songs off four solo records, his latest being the star-studded I Want Blood, released in 2024. The band also treated ‘90s fans to six Alice in Chains classics, including their hit “Man in the Box” and show-closer “Rooster.”
“Is Austin really that f****** weird?” Cantrell exclaimed about halfway through the show. “I don’t know if it’s that weird – it feels like home.”
