From now until November 26 at 12 PM EST / 9 AM PST / 6 PM CET, Wolcen Studio welcomes participants across North America, Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia to experience a haunting mythological realm, unique brutal encounters, and deeper customization in how each Reaper approaches battle.
Shaped by community feedback, this Alpha continues to sharpen the game’s combat, exploration, and sense of discovery. Gods, Death & Reapers drops players into an underworld abandoned by the gods and filled with mythological realms. The introduction of the Helheim map in this Alpha is drawn from Norse legend, showcasing the game’s commitment to rich, myth-inspired worldbuilding. Guided by Death, players take on objectives, face fierce enemies or rival Reapers, and attempt to escape with valuable loot. Each mission begins in the Sanctuary, a customizable base for upgrades and planning, and every run hinges on the same choice: extract with rewards or fall and lose it all.
What Awaits in the Closed Alpha
Players stepping into Death’s domain can expect a slate of features and content, including:

Story Mode: An offline option introduced in this Alpha that allows players to explore the realms of the dead at their own pace without any PvP encounters.

Helheim Map: A haunting realm inspired by Norse myth, filled with winding dungeons, hidden pathways, and persistent dangers.

The Unworthy Faction: Tyr’s forsaken oathbreakers roam Helheim’s corpse-strewn shores. These condemned souls appear in multiple forms, from explosive brutes to corrupted shamblers, creating varied combat challenges throughout the area.

Arsenal Enhancements: Additional weapon abilities and ultimate skills are available across Javelin & Shield, Seax & Axe, Warhammer, and Staff loadouts. Reapers can deploy techniques such as Spartan Kick and Rolling Meteor, use teleportation and chain reactions, and refine their combat style through broader customization options.

Reworked Onboarding, The Pit: A fully redesigned tutorial that introduces the fundamentals of reaping with clearer guidance and improved pacing.

Sanctuary Updates: A revised Sanctuary layout that improves visibility, streamlines crafting and resource management, and supports smoother expedition preparation.

Expanded Character Creation: An expanded set of customization tools that gives players greater flexibility in shaping their Reaper before entering Death’s domain.
- Leaderboards and Emotes: Global leaderboards and expressive emotes make their debut in this Alpha and support competition and social interaction across the community.
Gods, Death & Reapers is set to release for Windows PC via Steam Early Access in 2026. Players can wishlist the game and register playtest interest on Steam. Anyone who joined earlier playtests retains access to all future Closed Alpha builds.
