Southwestern Corner of Saskatchewan – October 17, 2025 – If Colter Wall’s previous releases evoked visions of cattle drives out West, his latest single brings another simple life into focus: marriage. Written from the perspective of an aging rancher in the onset of dementia, “Back to Me” at its core is a love song.
Of the new single Wall shares, “Living takes a toll. ‘Back to Me’ is about that, but mostly it’s about loving someone through it all.”
Today, Wall releases the second single from Memories and Empties, set for a November 14th street date via La Honda Records and RCA Records, a mighty yet delicate number called “Back To Me.” Armed with a bold vocal delivery and sparse, twangy musical arrangement, Wall carries the opening lines of “Back To Me” delicately before giving way to its first refrain:
“Not so long ago, I’d throw my leg around life
And I’d stay with each day and spur ‘em down
But that age has come and gone
And the memories won’t stay around
But in time, I know my mind will come back to me
Like the songs that my momma used to sing
I’ll remember who I am
If you grab aholt of my hand
I’ll recall you are my all and everything.”
Born of the same humble songs for which the Canadian singer is so beloved, Wall’s upcoming album, Memories and Empties, punches them up a notch or two, highlighting his signature, gravelly baritone with a honky tonk swagger, thanks, partly, to the studio in which it was recorded, Nashville’s time-honored RCA Studio A. Produced by Wall and Pat Lyons who are joined by the Colter Wall touring band, The Scary Prairie Boys, Memories and Empties speaks for itself; a country music album alive with piano, fiddle, and steel guitar, and devoid of anything that might get in the way of that.
Fans can stream or purchase “Back To Me” today at this link, hear the previously-released single, “1800 Miles,” here, and pre-order or pre-save Memories and Empties right here.
