Originally released as a heartfelt, indie rock ballad, “Waiting On You” quickly became a fan favorite of her debut self-titled album, celebrated for its raw emotion and introspective lyricism. Now, Castleman reinvents the track with shimmering synth layers, deep bass grooves, and an ethereal vocal delivery that transports listeners to an entirely new sonic dimension.
Cecilia Castleman says of the track, “We made this version before the one on the record, and it’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever created. I love blending genres, and I think this version encapsulates everything I grew up listening to — from Sade to Daft Punk to Calvin Harris. I wrote the chorus in my bedroom here in Nashville and brought it to my friend Daniel Tashian, where we finished it at his studio. Then, Don Was added his magic touch. I’m really grateful for this song and how it all came together.”
Produced by six-time Grammy Award winner Don Was (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, and more) and Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves), “Waiting on You (Synth Version)” highlights Castleman’s versatility as an artist, all while maintaining the song’s original soul and sincerity.
The release follows the release of Castleman’s debut self-titled album, released January 24th via Glassnote Records. Recorded in Los Angeles’ famed Henson Recording Studios, the album is a vulnerable and introspective coming-of-age opus that is heartbreaking and joyous with Cecilia’s haunting vocals soaring over Pop and Americana melodies – LISTEN HERE.
